The important part is choosing the hall and inflatable together. A venue can look enormous in photographs but still have a low ceiling, suspended lights, a stage or other features that substantially reduce the usable space.
So before paying the hall deposit, get the tape measure out.
Why Indoor Inflatable Hire Works So Well In Autumn And Winter
A hall removes many of the variables associated with planning outdoor entertainment during the colder months. Rain isn't falling on the inflatable, temperatures inside are generally more comfortable for guests, and you aren't spending the week before the event repeatedly checking the weather forecast.
Indoor hire can be considered for Birthday Parties, Children's Parties, school and nursery events, PTA fundraisers, Christenings, Christmas celebrations and other seasonal occasions.
It can also give you a useful defined layout. The inflatable occupies one section of the room, while tables, seating, food and other activities can be arranged elsewhere, subject to the venue's available space and required access routes.
Start With The Ceiling, Not Just The Floor
People naturally think about whether a bouncy castle will fit between four walls. For indoor hire, height matters just as much.
You need the clear ceiling height, rather than simply the venue's quoted room height. Hanging lights, beams and other overhead fixtures can reduce the space available for an inflatable.

For Halls With At Least 18ft × 15ft Of Clear Floor Space
Minimum clear floor space: 18ft × 15ft
Minimum ceiling height: 10ft
The Dino combines bouncing with a front slide and a prominent 3D dinosaur design. It's a useful choice when you want the inflatable itself to provide both the theme and the main children's activity.

The Princess uses the same minimum floor area and combines its princess styling with bouncing and sliding. It can suit themed children's celebrations where the venue has good floor space but a 10ft ceiling limit.

Floor space isn't the main difference here. Height is. The Monster Truck requires substantially more overhead clearance than the Dino or Princess, so check carefully for lighting, beams and other ceiling fixtures before choosing it.

Got An 18ft × 18ft Clear Area?
A larger hall opens up two more possibilities.

The Double Unicorn requires more floor space than our 15ft × 12ft front-slide models. Its 3D unicorn styling and integrated slide make it a substantial focal point for an indoor children's party.

Indoor inflatable hire isn't restricted to smaller children. The Multicoloured Adult Bouncy Castle is designed for larger users and can be considered for suitable mixed-age and adult occasions when the hall provides the required space.

Smaller Hall? Look At The 13ft × 13ft Castles
You don't necessarily need an 18ft clear floor area to include a bouncy castle.
Three of our contour castles require a minimum clear operating area of 16ft × 16ft, although you'll still need 11ft of clear ceiling height.

A colourful general-party design that can work well when you want a traditional castle rather than a larger front-slide inflatable.

If unicorns are firmly on the brief but the hall cannot provide the 18ft × 18ft floor area required by our Double Unicorn Front Slide, the Unicorn Contour gives you another themed option to consider.

What If A Full Bouncy Castle Won't Fit?
A smaller venue doesn't necessarily rule out inflatable entertainment.
Minimum clear floor space: approximately 11ft 8in × 14ft 6in
Minimum ceiling height: approximately 8ft 9in
The Football Shootout has the smallest space requirement among the inflatables covered in this guide. Rather than bouncing, players take turns shooting at the target, making it particularly useful for sports-themed celebrations, school activities and fundraisers.

Measure The Space You Can Actually Use
Suppose the venue tells you its hall measures 30ft × 20ft. That doesn't automatically mean you have a clear 30ft × 20ft rectangle available for equipment.
Look around the room and account for:
- low-hanging lights and decorations;
- ceiling beams;
- stages and raised areas;
- radiators;
- pillars;
- fixed furniture;
- fire exits and required walkways;
- doorways and corridors used to access the hall; and
- stairs or other access restrictions.
The measurements shown for our inflatables are minimum clear-space requirements. That space needs to remain available rather than overlapping with tables, chairs, fixed objects or routes that need to stay clear.
Don't Forget To Measure The Way In
The room itself is only part of the equation.
Think about how the equipment reaches it. A large hall on the other side of restricted corridors, narrow doorways or difficult stairs may present a very different setup from an equally large room with straightforward access.
